Minne is back for a second year! She can hardly wait to see you all again and to make new friends!

Once upon a time, in a far away land, a young Lake Creature left her parents' nest and went searching for a home of her own. "Where will I live?" thought the Lake Creature as she began her adventure. "It must be someplace very special. It should be friendly and beautiful. It should have lush green landscapes, fragrant flower beds and scenic byways. And most of all, of course, it must have lakes – lots and lots and lots of lakes!"

I like to visit all of the lakes and it was time to enjoy Lake Nokomis. I thought I saw something in the lake and when I got closer I discovered that it was Minnie! I wondered if it was still in Lake Harriet, but only surfacing when I wasn't around...I found Minnie again -- Lake Nokomis.

I'm in a habit of looking for Minne around Lake Harriet and Lake of the Isle - so when I heard she decided to move to Lake Nokomis I needed to check it out. There she was - looking relaxed in the Lagoon just west of Cedar Avenue. There was a family of mallard ducks and a fisherman keeping her company. I don't think she has as many walking visitors at this location - but the surprised looks from the drivers on Cedar Avenue must keep her amused.

I was wondering where she went to, I noticed that she was gone from Lake Harriet, so I went and rode my bike around Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles and did not see her there either. I had to come here to find out she is in lake Nokomis now.

Last year she started the summer in Lake Harriet, then she migrated to Lake of the Isles, spending time in two parts of that lake, then she disappeared for the winter.

Lake Nokomis is a little out of my bike riding range but hopefully Minnie will be back to visit Lake Harriet again next summer.

I saw some mallards warily eyeing Minne from a safe distance at Lake Nokomis. I assured them she was gentle.

Here's another picture I took of Minne at Lake Nokomis. That's a big bridge she's by. I wonder if the drivers are surprised when they see her!

I saw Minne at Lake Nokomis today! I was hiding behind the cattails at first but she seemed nice enough on Twitter that I popped up for a better look later.

When I came back around the lake on my stroll the fisherman was nowhere to be found. His gear was scatted throughout the shallow shoreline on the west side of Lake Nokomis. Was the Lake Creature involved? Should I report this to the park police?

I was driving to work a few days ago and was headed over the bridge at NOKOMIS. A huge smile spread accross my face as my brain tried to make sense of what I was seeing. What a great idea! I have been telling everyone I know to go check out the dinosaur in Nokomis...my daughter and her friends have walked to the lake to check it out themselves. Thank you for such a splendid suprise!

Saw Minnie in Lake Nokomis. It was so cool as I drove over the Cedar Lake bridge. She swam up Minnehaha Creek and after jumping up the waterfall had to take a break in Lake Nokomis.

One Lake Creature photo submission will be selected to post on the Foundation website on a weekly basis!

Rumor has it that Minne the Lake Creature will spend the summer visiting different places in the Minneapolis chain of lakes.  Look for Minnie while walking, rollerblading, or canoeing around the lakes.  Then, help build the lore of the Lake Creature by sharing your photos and stories.  How did she travel here... where did she come from... who helped her along the way... and why did she choose the lakes in Minneapolis?  It's up to your imagination...
